Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej (now Onesti] Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast to be awarded a perfect score of 10 during the Olympic event. Bela Karrolyi who was the Romanian gymnastics trainer who became Comaneci's coach in later years, discovered her at age six. The year 1969 was the first time she took part in the Romanian Junior Championships and finished 13th. She was awarded the championship in 1970. In 1972, at an event for communist-controlled countries' junior athletes before the Olympics she was awarded three medals of gold. In 1973 and 1974 she won the junior champion in all aspects. Her first senior competition in 1975 she beat the Russian Lyudmila Turkishcheva. The five-time European champion, winning four golds and a silver. The first female ever to perform a backwards double salto after dismounting from an unbalanced parallel bar. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol ventured into the entertainment industry in her teens. She started her career as a figure skater performing with her younger sibling Nina Wayne as part of the traveling entertainment shows called Ice Capades. Ice Capades showcased performances of skaters ice skating performed by actors.
